The indwelling presence of the Divine
our inspiration
‘Shekinah’ means the indwelling presence of the Divine, the sacred vitality within creation itself.
In Jewish mystical tradition, the Shekhinah is understood as the world of manifestation: the living current of life force that animates plants, people, and the earth, offering each being its unique light. Often described as the divine feminine, the Shekhinah is associated with love, compassion, justice, and healing—qualities that mirror the heart of this apothecary.
This name honors the belief that medicine is not separate from spirit, that healing arises through relationship, and that plants are sacred allies through which life’s wisdom becomes tangible. It reflects our commitment to creating remedies that are grounded, intentional, and alive—supporting women and families in reconnecting with their innate wholeness, the rhythms of nature, and the quiet presence of healing that already dwells within.
Our mission
By restoring women’s relationship with healing plants, we hope to help restore humanity’s relationship with the living world.
Through the plants, we invite women to reconnect with the natural rhythms of their bodies— through the seasons of maiden, mother and matriarch. These seasons and cycles mirror the greater rhythmns of the natural world, reminding us that healing is never separate from the earth itself. Our prayer is that this work eases symptoms, yes—but even more, that it rekindles reverence, reciprocity, and belonging with nature.
To reconnect with nature is to reconnect with our own intuition. Once that remembrance awakens in you, it can be life changing. It can change your relationship with yourself and the natural world - with what you eat, how you move your body, what you say yes to, when you choose to go out in the sun. When will discover that you already have the answers within you.

We provide dosage guidelines and tips for each remedy on our bottles and website. Having said that, our ultimate desire is to help restore the intuitive relationship humans have always had with plants, and the organic intelligence that comes from that. Just as animals are able to intuit the herb and dosage they need to heal from ailments, we too have that long-lost ability.
The ‘right’ dosage varies from person-to-person, season-to-season, day-to-day. Some of the women we work with already practice intuitive dosing, using their body as the barometer for what they need, often with incredible results. For those that are in the earlier stages of their journey with herbal medicine, you are welcome to use our dosage guidelines as a starting point. We encourage you to slow down, listen to your body’s cues, and let the herbs speak to you. Over time, you will develop you own beautifully intuitive relationship with healing plants.
Unlike many everyday pharmaceuticals that can strain the liver or kidneys in excess, traditional herbal tinctures are generally gentle and well tolerated. Even in amounts beyond typical use, they are far more likely to cause mild digestive upset than serious harm.

As a trained MD, I (Rebecca) have always straddled medical and natural worlds. I am a passionate advocate for sovereign health, and the natural healing and wisdom that’s available in and around us. I also believe there is a time and a place for Western Medicine, and with knowledge, agency and common sense we will to make the best choices for ourselves and our families.
I think people assume that I’ve never used pharmaceuticals, but it's not true. I'm not some paragon of herbal wellness. I grew up with herbalism, but the stress of medical school led to migraines, chronic headaches, and multiple visits to the ER. I became incredibly reliant on pharmaceuticals, and spend decades of my life making sure I always had them with me, even as my lifestyle and migraines improved.
Then, just a couple of years ago, I got a splitting migraine just as I was preparing to teach at a herbal conference. I walked back to the car and realized I didn’t have any medication with me. Panicked, I thought about the herbs I’d brought with me to vend and decided to put together a few formulas and hit it hard. Within an hour, my migraine had gone. This was a huge personal moment for me, one that was decades in the making.
My story is also a reminder that this is meant to be a journey. We don’t just wake up one day with an herbal medicine cabinet! Even after 40 years, it still took a moment of desperation for me to trust the herbs for something as severe as one of my migraines. And that’s OK.

As shared above, there’s a place for both natural and western medicine in our lives. I have a husband who's very likely to reach for a pill bottle first, and oftentimes my children will ask him before me if they feel like they need support. That said, my three youngest all have their own herb formulas that they are drawn to up in their rooms, on their bathroom counters and at their bedside tables. I'm really proud of this and it has been years in the making. It was a journey for my family, and it will be a journey for your family too. I encourage you to keep the conversation open and judgement-free, and focus on your own herbal exploration first. The proof is often in the pudding!
